Kayla's Blog

Hello All,

The past week was very busy for me! There have been many Open Houses and Saturday Preview days for prospective students and I have been volunteering for tours and student panels.  Student panels consist of sitting in front of an audience and answering any and all questions asked by students and their parents. It is a lot of fun to tell people about my personal experiences of campus life, as well as interact with the new students.
Besides volunteering, I have been very busy with my studies. My Midterm exams started this week and I have been on the go every day. I will be using this weekend to relax and catch up on sleep!
Until next time,
Kayla

Nick's Blog

The semester is well underway! My classes are going really well. I think this has been a great semester so far. My EMT Class is giving me the hardest time because of all the different skills and homework that needs to be done. The two classes that I'm looking forward to (Horseback Riding and Cruise Culture) start in a few weeks. I'm really excited to go on my first cruise!
I'm also really busy with being on the Minneapolis Polar Bear Plunge Committee. I'm in charge of the whole transportation aspect of the plunge! It has been a long process and it will be good when it is all over and done with. Come out and support Minnesota Special Olympics on March 3rd at Lake Calhoun- St. Thomas Beach.

Have an amazing week and thanks for reading!

Cristen's Blog

Hey Bloggers!

I hope you have all been staying as busy as I have.  This past week was crazy busy but a lot of fun.  I was swamped with schoolwork, tests, work, and all of my extracurricular activities last week but it all paid off because at the end of the week I got to go to the Timeflies concert!  I’m not sure if any of your have heard their music, but you all need to listen to one of their songs… they’re great!  They performed in the cities last weekend so my roommates and I decided to go.  It’s so nice that Mankato is only about an hour away from the cities because it is so easy to take a weekend trip up there.

This week I am pretty busy with classes but what I’m most nervous about is my Spanish play.  This semester I am in an acting Spanish course and we are performing two of the plays we read this semester.  I actually have a pretty big part and if memorizing lines in English wasn’t hard enough, you should try doing it in Spanish!  Our play is called, “El Retablo de las Maravillas”.  It’s a comedy about Chanfalla and Chirinos, two tricksters who come to this town and fool all of the townspeople into believing that they are true magicians.

I hope you all have a great week!  I’ll make sure to let you all know how the play went… keep your fingers crossed I don’t forget my lines!

Hey Again Everybody!
This week has been a very relaxed one so far. I had all of my exams last week so I am able to sit back and just do a few assignments and I don’t have to worry about cramming for a bunch of tests. Since I don’t have a lot of exams coming up I have been able to do some fun things instead.
Last week was our new ambassador training. We were able to meet all of the new tour guides and teach them the basics of giving tours. We also got to help with a scavenger hunt. I also went to the hockey games last Friday and Saturday. Kayla and I had a great time watching the game. We both love hockey!
One of my friends also celebrated his birthday this week. It was so much fun to get together with a bunch of people and not have to worry about any big assignments being due. Unfortunately this break from homework won’t last for long because midterms are coming up. Hopefully I will be able to get back in the swing of things and start studying all the time again!

Jake's Blog

We are already over a third of the way done with this semester, and spring break is less than three weeks away! Unbelievable how fast the semester is going, but I suppose it helps that the weather has been hovering around the 40’s for a while now.  Had one test last week, one last week and my 1 credit online class started last Monday, so the homework load has definitely increased but is still manageable. I have gone twice now to talk to the students interviewing for the Presidential Scholarships, so if you went through one of those best of luck to you!

The weekend of the 11th I got to go to the Twin Cities for the Timeflies concert, and stayed at the Hilton with some high school friends.  The view from our 22nd floor window was incredible, but the concert was even better!  We met some interesting people and had a blast.  Starting to look forward to spring break already.  Hope you all have a great week!

(If you have any questions about college or university life don’t hesitate to find me on Facebook or twitter @JBusch19 I’d love to help you out!)

Kayla's Blog: Fun with Family and Friends

Hey Everyone!

School is off to a quick start this semester! I am already so busy with classes, work and my involvement on campus. I currently work in the Admissions office at MSU. I give campus tours throughout the week and help with work in the office. My extracurricular involvement includes Health PROS which is a group that promotes health among peers across campus, Student Ambassadors which includes volunteering for events on campus, campus tours and community service and finally College Republicans, where we basically sit around and discuss current events, and politics of course. I am also looking into joining Psi Chi, which is our Psychology Honor Society, and Psychology Club.
I am also excited to mention that my family surprised me with a visit last weekend! It was so nice to see them again because the last time I saw them was in December. We went dog walking at the local animal shelter, to the Maverick men’s hockey game and of course, grocery shopping. My friend Megan also celebrated her birthday last week so we all went to Buffalo Wild Wings!

Nick's Blog: Busy Student Life

Hey Everybody-
We have accomplished yet another week! I’m so busy with my classes. We are starting to get to the point of first exams!! My classes are going really well but my EMT Class out at South Central is a lot harder than I thought it was going to be.
We are finishing up the recruitment process for Student Ambassadors; it will be nice to see some new faces around the organization. We are getting busy doing a lot of different events like Saturday Preview Days, Open Houses and other special visits.  We recently got a new advisor who is a new Admissions Officer, so it’s really cool to have another great addition to the group.
My job is going really well also, being a tour guide for the Admissions Office is so much fun! There isn’t a day that I don’t want to go to work. Everyone is so much fun to work with.
Well that’s enough from me for this week! I hope you all have an amazing week and thanks for hearing some more stories about campus.
