Kayla's Blog

School is off to a quick start this semester! Classes finally up and going again, and I love all of the courses I am taking this spring. I am also getting back into my habit of working out so I am utilizing Otto Recreation Center almost every day. I think I may start going to a free fitness class offered through Campus Recreation, they have yoga, water aerobics and some different cardio classes as well.

When I’m not in class or in the gym I like to hang out at my apartment and spend time with my friends. Lately there have been a lot of home men’s hockey games so they keep me busy on the weekends! In case you did not know, Maverick Hockey is in Division I, so we get to play the University of Minnesota, University of Wisconsin Madison and even University of North Dakota, just to name a few. It is a really popular sport for our students to attend!

Nick's Blog

We have just started our third week of classes after that long winter break! My classes are going really well! I’m taking 17 Credits here at MSU and then 6 Credits at South Central Community College. (In North Mankato)  I know it sounds like a lot but two of my classes start later in the semester and the South Central class which is EMT ends before the others start. So it really isn’t that much.
I just got a new job working on campus!! I use to work with the Security Department on Campus as a Patrol Officer. I now work in the Admissions Office as a Tour Guide. I think this has been one of my favorite jobs that I have ever had. It’s really fun seeing new students come in and want to check out our campus! It’s nice to see people that are interested in coming and attending this amazing university.
Well that’s enough from me for this week! I hope you all have an amazing week and thanks for reading some of my stories about campus.

Hey Bloggers!

This semester is already flying by!  I can’t believe we are already done with our second week of classes.  So far I love all of my classes and my professors.  I think my favorite class this semester is going to be my Urban Development class.  We get to do a lot of group activities and presentations and it sounds like a lot of fun.

Outside of school I’ve been keeping pretty busy with work.  I just started a new job at the Mankato Chiropractic Center in December.  I really love and working there and it’s perfect experience for Physician Assistant school.  I’ve also been going to a lot of hockey games.  Week before last we played the University of Madison. It was such a great game; we won 3-0!  Last weekend there was a home game and we played Nebraska Omaha with a 5-4 overtime win!

I hope you are all having a great week and I can’t wait to let you know how this next week goes for me!

Jeni's Blog

Hey Again!

So far this semester has been a busy one, just like I predicted. I have spent a lot of time reading and taking notes, but I have also been able to do a lot of fun things! I attended a hockey game with one of my friends Kayla (also a Student Ambassador BloggerJ) a couple of weekends ago and it was a blast. I have also spent a lot of time with my friends and roommates. My cousin also got married this past weekend and I was lucky enough to be one of her bridesmaids!
With so much going on this semester it is really important for me to manage my time well. That is one of the most important parts of college. I always have meetings, work, and assignments in all my classes. It is really easy to lose track of what is going on. My whole life is in my planner. Anything I could possibly need to know about my schedule is in that planner. I have learned the past couple of years how important time management and keeping track of everything is! That’s all for now and don’t forget to keep an eye out for me when you visit campus!

Jake's Blog

Hello Again!

The first couple of weeks of the new semester are done, and it looks like the rest of the year will flow pretty smoothly. I somehow avoided Friday classes this semester, and since last Monday was MLK Jr. Day, I had a nice four day weekend which I spent at home with family (no complaints here). The weather did turn awfully frigid when I got back, so if I was going to complain about something that would be it. However it is Minnesota so I’ll refrain myself.

I’m in the process of mapping out which classes to take and where in order to graduate. This is something I highly advise you to do once you have decided on a major.  It’s easy to just close your eyes and point your finger at a list of classes to decide which ones to take, but knowing which classes have prerequisites and when classes are offered take play a large part in when you will be able to take them. This also makes it much easier come registration time, because you don’t have to stress out about which classes you need/want.

Stay warm and stay classy.
Until next time,
Jake

Meet Kayla: Kayla's Blog

Hi Everyone,

I cannot believe winter break is over already. It was so nice to have a break from school and work and to spend quality time with my family and friends. Although it did not seem like winter break because there was no snow on the ground! I was excited to see everyone from back home but I spent a lot of the time relaxing. I went shopping with my mom, spent the Holidays with my family and went to my friend’s wedding (check out the picture at the bottom of the page). My favorite gift that I received was a new digital camera!

I loved having a break, but I am glad that I am back at school. I missed my busy schedule and my college friends. What is really nice about this semester is that I am finally completed with my science courses for the Dental Hygiene program, so I am finishing up my Psychology minor and do not have to stress about rigorous Biology and Chemistry anymore.

Until next time,
Kayla

Meet Nick: Nick's Blog

Hello Bloggers,
My name is Nick and I’m a freshman at MSU. My major is Law Enforcement and I’m minoring in Recreation, Park and Leisure Service (RPLS).  I’m involved in many different activities on campus such as Student Ambassador which is 35-40 students on campus that do different events such as special campus tours, student panel and other events that the Admissions Office puts on. I’m also involved with IMPACT which is an organization that puts on many different campus activities such as Movies every weekend, Comedians, Specials Events such as the Haunted House and Mavericks after dark.
I’m going to focus on our Winter Break that we had. We were on Winter Break starting on December 5th through January 8th. It was nice having a long break to focus on the past semester and improve on what needs to be worked on for the upcoming spring semester. It was a very interesting break. I was in a Car Accident so that took up most of my time. Trying to find a new car and dealing with the insurance company was not much fun, but Christmas was a lot of fun!  We went to Green Bay for 5 days (my aunt lives there), and we got to go to the stadium on Christmas to walk around and see all the fans and tailgating. In my free time I just hung out with some of my old friends and caught up on old times. It was an amazing break minus the car crash.
It’s going to be another amazing semester, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it! Thanks for taking your time to read my blog!

Meet Cristen: Cristen's Blog

Hey Bloggers!

I’m so excited that school started again on Monday!  Winter break was fun and relaxing but I’m excited that everyone is back in town.  I didn’t do much over break; I stayed in town and worked.  This semester I am taking 18 credits, so it’s going to be a full course load.  I had a lot to get done before school started.  I needed to buy my books (which I always try avoiding because books can be expensive). I always love the first day of classes because I love learning new topics and meeting new people.  I can’t wait to update you all know on how the first week of classes went.  Have a great week!

These past few weeks we have been on break for the holidays. Over break I got to do a lot of fun things with my friends and my family. Now it’s time for school and studying though. Classes started on Monday and I am busier than ever. This semester I have 18 credits and I have a feeling I will be studying an awful lot. Hopefully all that hard work will pay off!

Meet Jacob: Jacob's Blog

My name is Jake Rabusch and I am a freshman majoring in accounting here at MSU Mankato.
With school starting again this week, I have to start trying to turn my brain on again.  I just got back from a vacation to Costa Rica with my family, aunts family, and other aunt as well.  There were 11 of us total, and it was a great way to spend the holidays.  We zip-lined, snorkeled, surfed, and took in a lot of sun.  I’m still getting used to looking out the window and seeing snow instead of rain forest. I have enjoyed that the temps haven't gotten too low yet this winter.

My brother and sister went back to school last week, so I'm spent the last week of break with the house to myself.  I went up to watch my girlfriend play basketball in Morris on last Wednesday.  That was kind of the last big thing I did before the spring semester started up!
